About AIK

We believe kids are
capable of more
than we give them credit for.

Adventuring Into Knowledge Nature School exists to give children real time in the natural world. Outside. In the weather. Doing things that are actually hard.

Our story

How we got here.

Sprouting Knowledge worked. Families in Kamloops trusted it. Kids thrived in it. It ran quietly out of Peterson Creek for years, doing exactly what it set out to do.

In 2024, the founder was ready to move on, and she came looking for someone to take it over. Families didn't want to lose it, so Stacey stepped in to keep it going under Adventuring Into Life. She kept the families and spent a year learning everything that made it special before she changed anything.

In 2026, AIL formally acquired Sprouting Knowledge and rebranded it Adventuring Into Knowledge Nature School. The programs moved to MacArthur Island Park. New name, new home. Same thing that made it work in the first place.

AIK is still outdoor, child-led, all-weather programming for kids who deserve more time outside than most of them are getting. That part isn't changing.

What we carried forward
The forest was always the classroom. We just needed to build the school around it properly.

Sprouting Knowledge founded
A small, beloved forest program begins in Kamloops. Child-led, outdoor, all-weather. Families find it and don't leave.
2024
Stacey takes the programs on
The founder of Sprouting Knowledge was ready to move on, and families didn't want to see it go. Stacey steps in to keep it running under Adventuring Into Life, keeping the families and everything that made it work.
2026
AIK is born
AIL formally acquires Sprouting Knowledge. The programs move to MacArthur Island Park and relaunch as Adventuring Into Knowledge Nature School. Oaks and Acorns and Sprouts keep going, and Kindergarten joins as a third program.
What we believe

The principles that
guide every session.

These are not mission statement words. They are the things we actually come back to when we make decisions.

01
Children are capable.
Not potentially capable. Not capable once they are ready. Capable now. Most children are given far less credit than they deserve and far less challenge than they need. We are trying to fix that.
02
Risk is part of the point.
Children who are never allowed to take risks do not learn to manage them. The forest provides the right kind of risk. We support children through it rather than eliminating it on their behalf.
03
Outside is not an add-on.
We go out in rain, snow, mud, and wind. The outdoors is the classroom, not a field trip reward. Children who spend real time in nature become more curious, more resilient, and more connected to the world they live in.
04
The child leads.
Our facilitators observe, support, and extend. They do not direct. Children learn best when they are following their own curiosity. Our job is to make sure the environment is rich enough to feed it.
05
Community matters.
Some of the best things that happen in our programs happen between families, not in the curriculum. The connections that form at AIK, between children, between parents, are part of what we are building.
The people behind it

Who you will meet.

Stacey runs AIK day to day. Adam and Brooke teach Sprouts. Andrea keeps things moving behind the scenes.

Lead Everything, AIK
Stacey

Stacey is Kamloops through and through. She grew up exploring the bush with her dad, more comfortable in the trees than in a classroom. She found Adventuring Into Life as a participant and never really left.

She's a mom, a certified Early Childhood Educator, and a certified outdoor educator. Since AIL took over the programs in 2024, Stacey has been building on what was already working and taking on more each year. She's now leading our first ever Kindergarten program.

Sprouts Teacher, AIK
Adam

Adam is a certified Early Childhood Educator and a dad. His own daughter came up through Sprouts and just moved into our Kindergarten program.

Sprouts Teacher, AIK
Brooke

Brooke is also a certified Early Childhood Educator, currently continuing her education. She teaches Sprouts alongside Adam.

Founder, Adventuring Into Life
Andrea

Andrea founded Adventuring Into Life in 2018 and has spent the years since building outdoor programs for youth and women across BC. She's a certified mountain bike coach, a former competitive athlete, and someone who has never stopped asking what happens to people when you take them outside and let them do something hard.

AIK exists because it's the nature school Andrea wants her own daughter to go to. She keeps things moving behind the scenes rather than running programs day to day. If you're at AIK, you're far more likely to run into Stacey, Adam, or Brooke than Andrea.

Part of something bigger

AIK is a program of
Adventuring Into Life.

Adventuring Into Life is Andrea and Stacey's outdoor adventure company for youth and women, based in Kamloops and running programs across BC. MTB camps, bushcraft, women's retreats, school programs, and international adventures.

AIK sits under the AIL umbrella. Same philosophy, different age range. Together they cover kids taking their first steps into the forest right through to women riding mountain bikes in Costa Rica.
